Book Signing - Sheila Roberts and Susan Wiggs

I went to an uber fun book signing on Saturday. My fabulous mentor Sheila Roberts was signing with #1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Wiggs. They're best friends, they're in the same critique group, and they're both extremely talented. Plus, they're just really nice people. I bought Sheila's ANGEL LANE and Susan's LAKESHORE CHRISTMAS.

I won a gift basket, nibbled on homemade yummies, chatted with friends, and walked away with two new books. Definitely a great day!

I've never been to a book signing before. They sound like fun. I'll have to try going someday. And congrats on the WIN!!! I love winning stuff.

Susan, while winning the basket was nice, it would have been a great day anyway. :) Of course the basket added to the fun--I'm not denying that! In fact, I was just snacking on some of the chocolates...

Natalie, I love books signings. They're one more thing to inspire us, seeing the people behind the books. I also enjoy hearing their stories and tips!

Corey, I'd love to promote with a friend or friends too!

Dawn, thanks for coming. You always make things fun when you show up! And ladies, let me tell you, book signings are a great way to connect with other writers. Who knows? The author who you support today may someday support you with cover quotes and attendance at your signing!

That sounds fun! I just wished my houseguest goodbye, so I'm re-entering my regular routine and trying to catch up.

any day's a good day when you win stuff. at least, stuff like books...not parking tickets or something. :)

I wanted to let you know about my blog address change. *sigh* If you're following me, my posts now won't show up in your feed, dashboard, sidebar, whatever. So please forgive me, but you'll have to change the address for my main writing blog, Where Romance Meets Therapy, to http://jeanniecampbell.blogspot.com. To do this, you have to "unfollow" me and follow me again. Sorry for the confusion!

What a great and positive way to view book signings! I get nervous chills, myself at the thought of having to do one someday! At the recent conference I was at, a couple of workshops indicated that book signings weren't as effective as other ways of promoting your books. But apparently locally, they can be a great way to connect with friends and readers.

Hi Dawn! Love your blog, and that you live nearby. Thanks for stopping in at my blog...maybe we'll bump into one another on the island, or at the retreat? If you are interested in carpooling, let me know!

Hi, Jennifer S.! :)

Sheila, thanks for commenting. Good point--they are a great place to connect with other writers.

Tamika, I love books and writers too!

Rosslyn, good luck getting caught up. I'm totally into routine, so I'm happy for you that you're getting yours back.

D.L., thanks. :)

Jeannie, I quit following then signed right up again.

Jody, I, too, have heard people say they aren't very effective, but I'm totally going to do it! I know what you mean about it sounding scary, but it sounds super fun too. I hope I'm good at it--or at least, I hope I become good at it. ;) Though in my case, I'm putting the cart before the horse since I need to:
A) get an agent
B) get a book deal
C) do a book tour
YOU can already cross off A and B!

Jennifer M., thanks for coming to my blog! Yes, let's talk carpool! I know one or two other locals who may want to join us as well. :)

P.S. - I spotted that little typo in my last comment box. I hate when that happens. If you didn't notice it, there was no typo. Okay, now I'm lying. There was one. Pesky typos...

I've never read Susan Wiggs, although romance authors have raved about her for years. I need to read something of hers!

Dawn VanderMeer said...

Hi, Stephanie! She's so sweet, and she's truly talented.
